Also Merry Christmas PS

One of the FUNNIEST things that happened.....

When we were driving to Christmas Eve Services, my dad was driving and he put his hand behind his seat and grabbed my knee and said "After all I do for you this is how you repay me!" which is EXACTLY what he used to do to us kids after he would take us out for supper or do something nice and then we would act like kids do and he would yell at us. My sister said my eyes got really big, because I was thinking "what, I'm 32 years old now, how am I getting in trouble from my dad", it was SOOOOOO funny!!

Merry Christmas!!

I hope you all had a wonderful and blessed Christmas, I know the Sommers Family did! I'm so incredibly blessed!!

We had so much fun, I said "screw it" to the diet and am currently experiencing a food coma, but I'm gonna get back on track tomorrow.

It started Christmas Eve afternoon, basically for the Sommers family its all about low key, easy, and laughs and that is exactly how it was! My dad even went to Godfather's and got my favorite pizza in Albany, which is about a 40 minute drive and it was AMAZING and my sister made Christmas Crack which is seriously like crack!!! LOL!

My sister is really into make up, so she dolled up me and my momma and dang we looked so cute at our home churches Christmas Eve services, which was so great, but I was so distracted by my friends 8 month old twins. They are so cute and we basically passed them around our rows, LOL! It was so fun to catch up with friends from our home church and then we went home for PRESENTS! And of course we were the last ones to leave as always!

We then ate some more and then read the Christmas story from the bible, which is one of my FAVORITE traditions and then we opened presents! my parents got me a queen sized bed for my birthday, which was in November, so my Christmas was a lot of little things. it was so funny, my mom found some of mine and my sisters old jewelry and wrapped it for us! She even found my old locket with a picture of me and my kitten inside and I remember putting that picture in, but my sister pointed out that it was upside down, too funny!

Casey (our dog) who is like my baby sister and the center of attention (considering she is only 2 years old) even got us pictures of her baby puppies that she had this summer and Mickey Mouse got me some stickers! so many fun gifts! I got dad some bars of soap since he said that millennials are getting rid of bars of soap and he loved it. He also loves Gracie Vanderwald (no idea how to spell her name) and she is 12 years old and just won America's Got Talent and my dad LOVES her voice, and so my sister got her CD for our dad and he was so excited!

After presents my parents came up with a trivia game, 10 categories with 10 answers, some of the categories were:

Name 10 Star Wars characters that weren't human, name 10 injuries and/or accidents that us kids have had, name all the neighbors who have lived on our street, etc... it was so fun! better find out how much we made for all our answers! some categories were easy and some were not..

Then Christmas morning we slept in, watched movies, ate, and chilled. My sister then introduced me to the Baby Sitters Club Club podcast, which is two guys who talk about the BSC books and it is SOOOOO funny! I now have a new workout podcast! So much fun! sad it's over, but I am so blessed and love my family.

Hope you and your loved ones had a Merry Christmas and here's to a great 2017!

Love, Kristin

PS Maybe I'll blog more in the new year??? maybe, we'll see! ha!

Crossroads Mall stabbing... requesting prayers

So two weeks ago yesterday a Somali man stabbed 10 people at my local mall. I'm still in shock and so sickened by this. No one was killed though because a police officer (who was off duty) killed the stabber. Thank God he was there that day.

Its made me pretty nervous and on edge since it happened and I wasn't even there. I actually went to the mall for the first time yesterday and I was kinda nervous, but I only went into Target, but baby steps right? I know because one person of Somali descent has done this does not mean all Somalis are bad, but its pretty scary.

Its been hard to live in St. Cloud lately as we have a lot of Somali refugees, so we could definitely use prayers. I think its been hard because St. Cloud is so small and to have a lot of refugees who don't know english or our customs has been hard. I mean I saw a Somali family cross the road right in front of another car.... so scary. If I ever make it to Austria or Paris, France, even for just a trip, I would want to learn their language and it just feels like a lot of the Somalians are not even trying. I get what they went through back home was probably very, very traumatic, but I wish they would try. I never have ever seen a Somalian person with a translation book, but they just come in and expect someone to figure out what they want, its very frustrating, to say the least.

I think our whole country could use lots of prayers for the upcoming election. I still have no idea who to vote for. I'm very glad that God has a plan, but I sure wish he would tell me who I should vote for as our options are not good, but I still want to vote as I consider this a wonderful privilege we as American citizens have to voice our opinion and I love getting the red I voted sticker too! LOL!!

9/11/2001

Wow, I can't believe its been 15 years since that awful day where America was attacked. I know most of you know this but my dad, cousins, and I were on top of the original world trade center in August of 2001 and its crazy to me how this happened a couple weeks later.

I still remember getting a phone call from my dad at schooling telling me that the towers were both down, and I just did not believe him. "we were just there, those things could never come down". everyone around me was talking about it, but I just wanted to get home so I could show my dad that those towers were still up. I got home and found out that I was wrong, I wish I had been right.

Continuing to pray for those affected by those terrible acts of violence. May we never forget. Thank you to those who protect our great country.

One week ago today....... Jacob Wetterling update

Wow, I never thought in my lifetime that we would find out what happened to Jacob Wetterling. For those who don't know (and if you weren't in Central MN in the late 80's you probably don't), but the day was October 22nd 1989 that life changed in Central MN. Specfically in St. Joseph, MN (which is pretty close to where I grew up). 11 year old Jacob Wetterling and his brother Trevor and Jacob's best friend Aaron Larson were biking to the local Tom Thumb one night to get a movie and a guy stopped the boys on there way back from the gas station to the Wetterling house, which wasn't too far, and he kidnapped Jacob.

This happened almost 27 years ago and no one knew what happened to Jacob that night. His brother and best friend were interviewed countless times on what happened and finally we know the monster who did this. His name is Danny Heinrich from Paynesville (another small town near where I grew up) and he admitted to sexually assaulting and killing Jacob and they found Jacob's remains that Heinrich buried in Paynesville all those years ago.

My heart breaks just writing this. My family and I prayed every night for Jacob to come home and for another little girl Jenna Rae (who was kidnapped in Texas around the same time and still hasn't been found). I'm so glad that Jacob's family now knows what happened. In fact there is going to be a memorial service at St. Ben's college in St. Joe on Sunday 9-25. I feel as though all of MN feels like Jacob was there son, grandson, friend, etc.

I feel like I knew Jacob, we would've been around the same age. I was 5 years old when this happened. I always thought he was so cute in his yellow shirt school picture that was posted all over MN and in the age enhanced photos that came out around 10-22 in recent years to show what he could've looked like now.

I never knew Jacob or the Wetterlings, but I still feel heartbroken for what happened to Jacob and for the Wetterlings to not know this whole time. I always hoped that he would escape and come home. Even a week after they announced what really happened, I've been very emotional.

Here is an article with the details, but be warned its pretty hard to read. http://www.startribune.com/danny-heinrich-confesses-to-abducting-and-killing-jacob-wetterling/392438361/

RIP Jacob. Praise the Lord that Jacob is finally home. Prayers to the Wetterlings and those who knew and loved Jacob personally. #Jacobshope

Happy mothers day!

My momma is the best! she always seems to know what I need before I need it, example-

Summer of 1997- I was at our church camp and mom was there as guidance counselor and I felt the Holy Spirit convict me to get baptized and I was so scared, and I just started crying and I turn around and my mom was behind me crying because she knew that I was ready to get baptized. Amazing right?

Funny story- This is not the first time I told my mom I wanted to get baptized, the first time happened when I was younger and when my mom asked why, I responded "I get so thirsty during church that getting some gra! pe juice would be nice!" LOL! bless my mama, she just said something along the lines of waiting a bit longer!

Plus, its mothers day today right (DER!) and my mom has my brother put together my elliptical (HOORAY!) and delivers it on mom's day, it kinda felt like daughter day, not mother's day. But we got my mom some wood working tools, which she was so excited about! she's so crafty!

So much fun with the family. I went home last night to work out, and we watched Avator- I've never seen it and I liked it, it kinda reminded me of Star Wars-maybe I am a sci fi nerd?!? LOL!!

we watched that because Disney World is launching a new land based off the movie at Animal Kingdom, so dad and I were doing research! and last weekend we watched Frozen. I like Saturday movie night at the Sommers gym! LOL!

and funny story, my dad asked if I could eat ice cream, and my mom jumps in with "I can!" LOL and my dad goes "well I know YOU can!" Sooooo funny! love my family to pieces, so much fun!

Hope you all had a great time celebrating your mom's, let's remembering to celebrate them all the time! Let's have a great week peeps!! :)

beautiful weekend!!

I'm kinda sad to have missed Stars on Ice today, its only the 2nd time I've missed since I first started going in 1998, CRAZINESS! but I just bought an elliptical, and I didn't have any favorites skating, still kinda sad.

in other news-my weekend was awesome! I worked out like a boss! which was awesome, and hung out with the family. my parents, and brother and I watched Frozen together last night. if you don't know my dad, he is horrible to watch movies with, and even a Disney movie he asks questions and isn't sure what's going on. I know most times he is just joking, but he's pretty believable! fun weekend! how was yours??

Let's have a great week!! We got this! :)

my new gym.....

so my elliptical crashed, and it lasted 3 years and I got it for dirt cheap, so it was to be expected, so I found a new one and just ordered it and its pink and super cute,

http://www.sears.com/sunny-health-fitness-p8300-pink-magnetic-elliptical-bike/p-00604334000P?SID=IMx20120601x002000-CoreFitnessSports-V2-activeusersFBX

so in the mean time I've been working out at my parents place and my dog Casey has an overactive bladder (to put it nicely-love you Casey Ann) and whenever she gets excited, she pees-well she saw me and peed, which I love because its a nice feeling to have a dog be so excited to see you. LOL! gotta love it!

its crazy, but I've discovered that I need to work out, my back has been hurting since my old elliptical broke down and now its good, so crazy.... and its such a great stress reliever

also got to hang out with the parents and plan our annual dad/daughter Disney trip in July, while my mom laughed at how crazy we are! ha! i'm so excited! this girl needs a vacay!

my mom is so amazing, she always knows what to say to make me feel better. life is jut crazy and stressful and she knows how to make me laugh-even though I told her "you've worried about me for 31 and 1/2 years + 9 months (!!) and I just want her to worry about other things, but I guess no matter what age you are, you always need your momma! and your family and mine is the best! be jealous!

also PS my old bedroom is where my mom's elliptical is at, so its nice to go back home (literally) and feel like a kid again! being an adult stinks sometimes.

today was a major KICKIN butt day!! woot woot!

guess what I did?!?!

for those of you who don't know, I have major food issues! I lost over 100 pounds with weight watchers two years ago, and I feel like I have been gaining more and more of the weight back. I'm still in a healthy range, but it gets harder and harder to have one cheat day, which moves into multiple cheat days, just because if I get off plan for even one bite, lick, or taste it is over and then I think "well I just wrecked my day, so I might as well eat whatever!". well today I have news. we had pizza for lunch (of course-my major weakness!) and I avoided it at lunch (yah me!) but then I found left overs in the breakroom, ugh! but I decided to just have two pieces, and that was it. and then they had extras at the end of the day and instead of taking a ton home and just saying "oh well, you cheated, you might as well eat the rest of the day!" I just said "nope, not happening!" and I came home and ate my normal "on plan" foods and I did it! woah! I've never gotten back on plan after straying off course! I am so excited! i'm beginning to realize that its not realistic to count points my whole life (I mean I am still and will continue to do so, because weight watchers does work -exhibit A) but now I feel like I can do this. I could eat something at lunch and then get back on plan that night for dinner and maybe I should've stayed away from that pizza, but that is just not realistic, and I saw some old pictures of me at my lowest and I want to get back there so badly, so its time to make a come back! here we go! oh my gosh, this might not seem like a big deal to you, but to me this is HUGE! I could use some prayers! I sure wish we didn't need food to live, but I feel a lot better about this! i'm trying not to deprive myself and just enjoy food, and then not go crazy! I'll keep y'all updated!

2 year Weight Watchers lifetime anniversary!

Wow-its been 2 years! That is so crazy to me! What's even crazier is how much harder it is to maintain than to lose. It took me a year and half to lose the weight and I am not able to have to go through doing something like that again!!

I really don't think I can have any cheat days anymore, I get so focused on eating as much as I can in those 24 hours, which usually stretch out into multiple days, and I get so sick. I had a cheat day last Monday, which turned into cheat days the Saturday and Sunday night before and then the Thursday night after and then Friday I had a HORRIBLE day at work, so I earned it, which then went into Saturday night! so yeah, my 1 intended cheat day turned into 6 days. EEEKK! I am so scared to weigh in on Wednesday, but I've never missed a weigh in and I am ready to get back on track and kick butt and take names (in Jesus' name, of course!) LOL! I could use some support. is anyone else out there struggling with weight issues or is it just me??? cuz sometimes it feels like its just me. I sure wish we didn't need food to live, that would make this so much easier! LOL!!!

let's have a great week everyone!! we can do it!!

Monday, April 4, 2016

read this when you are wanting a cheat day

DO NOT DO IT KRISTIN ANN!! remember this sick feeling you have, would you rather be so sick you can't move or in great shape from eating and exercising? your move Sommers!

Friday, April 1, 2016

woah, this whole "kicking butt with God and taking names" quote is working for me......

today was AWESOME!!! it just feels good to be recognized by your employer for the work you are doing, I just gotta keep remembering that I am working for the Lord, not men!

after today's awesome day, I met up with the bestie Sara and we had EP, so good, and then we did our usual shopping and then went to Sara's place to watch Fuller House, the new show based on Full House, so good!! I was worried, because some of the old shows that come back don't work, but I really liked this!!

so just a great day! although I gotta remember to give God the glory and praise even when things turn south which they will, hey that's life right?? Have a GREAT weekend!!!!!

also PS, remind Sara that you guys are on episode 9! LOL! we both have bad memory!

Sad Friday

I want to be honest, I don't care for Good Friday. Every time I hear about Christ's death, it just makes me sick to my stomach with everything he had to go through and I always cry when I hear about the sacrifices that he made for me. ME! I still can't get over this, he did this because he loves me. I'm so grateful, but so sad that he had to endure this.

But I love Easter!!! I can't wait to write on facebook- "He has Risen, He has Risen INDEED!!!!"

I can't wait for Sunday, but I know we need Good Friday to get to Easter. its such a catch 22! Thank you Lord!!!

weight struggles

the struggle is real! I HATE food, but I absolutely LOVE it! LOL! sure wish I could cut food out cold turkey (pun intended), but alas I cannot.

so I need to lose 5 pounds this week, the end of the month is next week and I have yet to weigh in and I'm freaking out. so this week this is my motto:

I'm kicking butt with God and I'm taking names!!

If you need to find me, I will be working out like cray cray!!!

if you have food issues too, I would love to hear them, its good to know I'm not the only one, although I feel like it all the time! Shouldn't I have this food thing figured out after 3.5 years with weight watchers. ugh. going to bed......

Sunday, March 20, 2016

so yeah, i saw MWS in concert last night....

sooooooooooooooooo good!!

my momma and I are big fans, so I took her for her birthday when he was in st. cloud last night. it was such a fun night and I just love his voice, and he is so handsome! darn it, yes he's married, and he's 58, but certainly doesn't look like it. kinda reminds me of the crush I have a on Captain Von Trapp (Christopher Plumber from Sound of Music!) they are both handsome old men and not Christopher Plumber now, but what he looked like in 1965!! and MWS teeth are so bright, I could see them from how far back we are.

I forgot that he wrote a song for the girl who died professing her faith in the Littleton Colorado school shooting and he told us he couldn't figure out an ending, so he reached out to her parents and asked if it would be okay if the song ended with bag pipes, and they said that was her favorite instrument. I had full on tears.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lgX0tghvz4A

It really made me think if I were in that situation, what would I say? I would love to say that I would proclaim to love Jesus, but how scary to actually have a gun pointing at your head with that kind of question. wow.

how fitting that Easter is next Sunday, when we see Jesus suffer the most horrible death for me, and you, and everybody.

Hope you all have a great Easter celebrating this incredible gift.

fun weekend with loved ones

so my weekend was awesome! yesterday I got to witness my sister in her element at a book appearance for Truest with some teenagers in there own book club. It reminded me of the "book club" we did when we were younger, although we only did it because we wanted to read our neighbor Amber's books, because they were so much better than our selection. we even legit set up a library system and made the old fashioned library check out cards that went in the inside pocket of books. When I saw the teens that Jackie talked to look at us puzzled when we brought those up, well its safe to say that I am officially old! LOL!!! fun times, and mom came to so it was a fun Sommers girls day! and it was beautiful out, so I painted my toenails and went for a walk in flip flops, in March, and yes I live in MN! i'm shocked too! although its supposed to get cold this week. darn it. but I can't complain, it's been a pretty great winter, and by that I mean tame when comparing it to other years!

today was a super relaxing day, and then I went to Church tonight with my dear friend Lori, which was awesome! and one of my favorite worship leaders was singing tonight, so that was awesome and the message was soooo good!!!

how was your weekend?? did you remember to set your clocks back an hour? I know it sucks. what state is it that doesn't have to do this, like Arizona or something? uber jealous!

PS finally my watch is set to the right time. I keep it ahead one hour when we are supposed to "fall back" in the fall because we go to Florida in December and they are an hour ahead, and also I don't know how to fix my watch! LOL! so there is that too!!

beware-scary post coming your way.....

so have any of you heard of donating plasma? well my rent is going up $25 so I decided to try donating, you get paid really well and I can handle needles, I just can't look at them.

Well, needless to say (no pun even remotely intended!!) my first time went just fine, in and out, no big deal! I didn't look at the needle at all, but the thing that hurt the most was when they drew my blood, lol!!

so I went back last week and decided to try my other arm, since my 1st time, I got a tiny bruise, so I did my other arm and it went badly. for some reason it took longer than the first time, which is unusual and then apparently I looked pale, so they stopped the process, and then I was told to sit in the lobby for 30 minutes and I woke up on the floor. very scary.

I do want to say what they do is great, so if you can handle it, go for it! I almost wanted to try my original arm that did good, but the center called to check on me and said that I shouldn't donate anymore, which I agree with. One of my doctors checked me out and said I was fine. very scary though.

lately

Life has been so fun lately! Let's see, I went to Twinsfest with Sara last Friday (we've gone the last 9 years!) and it was so fun and we got to meet Torii Hunter and I actually talked to him and thanked him for coming back to the twins before he retired. I cannot believe I actually talked to him! That is so unlike me!! LOL!

because on the flip side I went to the ladies final at US nationals, which was at the excel energy center in the cities, and I got to meet Michelle Kwan, but I had no words. I mean this is Michelle FREAKIN Kwan! but the event was so much fun! Gracie Gold won and the top 4 were all amazing! It was Gracie, Polina, Ashley, and Mirai. Such a great event! I saw Tara Lipinski, Johnny Weir, Scott Hamilton, and Terry Gannon in the commentator booth, but couldn't get to them. boooo. :(

and Dorothy Hamill was interviewed on the jumbotron and I was asked to take a picture of two guys with Linda Fratianne. I think one of the guys was from project runway and he does articles on skaters costumes. I can't think of his name though! Also saw a bunch of the icenetwork people, like Tanith Belbin, Michael Weiss, Charlie White, Meryl Davis, John Coughlin and Michael Buckley (who my sister loves-LOL!) it was just so much fun to be there and I can't wait for us to host it again.

I also am apart of fantasy figure skating, which is so much fun! every competition you rank the top 6 and then there are random questions, like "how many quads do you think the men will land" and will "Gracie Gold place higher than Ashley Wagner". Its so much fun, but I totally bombed at nationals, which is weird, since I was there to see it play out live. But looking forward to trying again for the next competition. Now I know why my dad and brother are so addicted to fantasy football, its so fun!!!

This may sound pathetic, but I am uber excited to be puppy sitting for mom in dad in two weeks. I took of work and get to spend 5 days at the house by myself. I can't wait to just rest and recharge my batteries! I'm such a loner, but I'm totes fine with that!

What's new with you?? Keep me updated! love, love!

Happy birthday sissy!!

I LOVE you! When I was praying for you today, I thanked God for giving me an awesome big sister! we've had so many great times and a lot of trying times (but just the normal sister relationship, especially sharing a bedroom FOREVER- it felt like-LOL!)

Love ya deetie!!! Here's to another 34 years! wowza, you're old! :)
